How to clean up red wine stains

Just accept the fact, at some point during your sophisticated dinner party, one of your pissed guests is going to fuck up your brand new carpet with one swift and clumsy red wine glass holding hand gesture.

Breath easy though, MAAN has prepared this helpful guide.

Firstly, don't stand there like a knob trying to console the guest and telling them 'not to worry about it', instead do the following in quick succession.

  1. Grab a wet dish cloth, some paper towell or a wet rag and blot up the excess wine. Don't rub or wipe, since this will just press the wine further into the fabric. We've also tried chucking white wine on the red wine stain which has had a pretty descent effect in the past.
  2. Sprinkle salt over the spill until you can't see the stain anymore. Let the salt dry, then scrape it off before rinsing and washing the fabric.
  3. After you've rubbed the salt off, rinse the stain with soda water and continue to blot, this should get rid of most of it.
